Summer is almost over and we're ready to fall into Autumn. I like a jacket and a scarf, so it's not entirely unwelcome here. I've been making hay while the sun shines, so here's an update from the last couple of months at Hey Green Raven...

The most recent news is that Hey Green Raven has been accepted onto the STEAMhouse Create programme with my new project Mindloop 🎉
Mindloop is an original concept which uses augmented reality as a storytelling tool for people with mental health conditions. I've got previous in this area, having used virtual reality to explore mental health in Step Inside My Head while I was at BBC Three.
Under the STEAMhouse programme Hey Green Raven will be developing the Mindloop concept with researchers from Birmingham City University and hopefully taking the idea to the next level. I'm excited to be involved, and the brand new facilities are really something.

Meanwhile, Beachcomber is moving through production. Our narrative VR project is taking shape and we'll soon be whiteboxing in VR to test the mechanics and refine the interactions. Soon our attention will turn to further environment design and modelling.
This week I am out and about too. I'll be giving a talk and workshop for Cheltenham Festivals on their Jerwood Arts project in Nottingham. We'll be discussing pitching in its many guises and how to win commissions in a digital space.
On the Create Central front, Innovate:Create is preparing to launch its first public project. Set In Stone? is an augmented reality walking tour through Birmingham examining the role of statues and monuments in our civic spaces. The collaboration between Second Home Studios and Holosphere launches this week and is available from the Apple and Android app stores.

While all this has been happening I've managed to launch another Innovate:Create challenge for Create Central. This time our challenge holder is Uber and they are looking to partner with a creative company to help reduce reliance on private cars in Wolverhampton. Best of luck to the applicants this time around.
And finally, I'm entering the final week of the first phase of this year's Bloomberg Digital Accelerator with Arts Council England. I've been working with and advising Birmingham Royal Ballet, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and FACT Liverpool as they prepare their projects.
There's been much besides over a busy ol' summer - including a great night at Overlap Animation Social in Digbeth - and I expect it will only ramp up as everyone is back from their holidays from September. Onward!
